Tamil Padam Movie Review | silentcritics.com

The promos of “Tamil Padam” had indicated everyone that this movie is going to be a spoof on few Tamil movies that had come earlier and due to that this movie had generated expectations to the level no one had even thought it would achieve. With a debutant director and a relatively new hero who has hardly any fan following the makers have taken a huge gamble and in the end the gamble seems to have paid off. Read More

Goa Movie Review | silentcritics.com

Venkat Prabhu after the stupendous success of “Chennai 600028” and “Saroja” has embarked on this fun filled package titled “GOA” with the tagline “A Venkat Prabhu Holiday”. To be honest there is lots of fun and glamour but one thing that really hampers everything is the length of the movie. The movie which runs for 3 hours lags in patches. Venkat Prabhu has brought together his trusted cast once again with a mix of few new faces and he has joined hands with Soundarya Rajinikanth who makes her debut in kollywood as a producer with this movie. Chance Pe Dance Movie Review | silentcritics.com

Ken Ghosh directed “Chance Pe Dance” is all about struggles of life along with a soft romantic love story between the two protagonists in the movie. Sameer (Shahid Kapoor) happens to be a struggling Bollywood aspirant and Tina (Genelia D’Souza) an upcoming choreographer. When they both bump into each other accidentally what happens next is in this Chance Pe Dance. Though the story might sound familiar what the viewer expects is something new in the treatment of the script but in the end all that is served is a loosely knit screenplay that defies logic to a great extent and an ending that was very much predictable. Kutty Movie Review | silentcritics.com

“kutty” a remake of the Telugu film “Arya” has the hit pair of Danush and Shriya which is directed by Mitran A Jawahar. In comparison to the original version there is absolutely no significant change that surprises if you have already viewed “Arya”. The major drawback in this remake is that it lacks logic and that has been the order of the day in most of the Tamil movies. The makers had decided to provide wholesome entertainment to the family audience and in the end they have just made it to the finish line but not without obstacles. Read More

Aayirathil Oruvan Movie Review | silentcritics.com

Director Selvaraghavan who is known for the boldness with which he normally handles the theme that he likes to unleash on screen was evident in his previous movies right from his debut film “Thulluvatho Illamai” which dealt with the subject of infatuation during school days followed by “7G Rainbow Colony” which ended up being a sophisticated version of his debut film but instead of infatuation it was love and post these two movies he decided to do an action flick titled “Pudhupettai” which unfortunately turned out to be a huge disappointment. Post Pudhupettai debacle Selvaraghavan who was used to scripting his movies based on happenings around him decided to trust his imagination and he started writing “Aayirathil Oruvan” (One in a thousand) sometime in 2007. The director who normally takes close to a fortnight to pen down an entire script took close to four months for this Aayirathil Oruvan. Read More

Will Aayirathil Oruvan Meet Expectations? | silentcritics.com

Selvaraghavan’s Aayirathil Oruvan which was in the making for over three years is finally slated to be released this pongal worldwide. The movie which is incidentally Karthi’s second movie after his stellar performance as a rustic villager in “Paruthiveeran”. The trailer of Aayirathil Oruvan which was released earlier was a stunner to everyone with the amount of foul language used by the leading ladies in Andrea and Reema Sen. If the visuals in the trailer was an indication of what is to come then no doubt Aayirathil Oruvan is going to be a visual extravaganza. Read More

Pyaar Impossible Movie Review | silentcritics.com

1 geek + 1 beauty = Pyaar Impossible… That’s the tag line of the film used extensively in the promos. Priyanka chopra no doubt looks beautiful on screen but why does her dress always shrink film after film. In this movie which is supposedly meant to attract youth and family audience the skimpy dresses she wears is definitely an eye-sore. Uday Chopra after a spate of films as a supporting role actor decided to give his career a boost and has taken the mantle of playing a solo hero along with producing and scripting the movie. The movie which was supposed to have released in November 2009 has been delayed due to unknown reasons and has finally seen the light in January 2010. Read More

The Invention of Lying Movie Review | silentcritics.com

The title says it all about what is actually in the movie for the viewer. If the concept of lying is supposed to be invented then one is sure that the movie is going to be rollicking fun. It is fun no doubt to begin with but once it moves on and when the art of telling lies gets invented and its effects gets to show up the lies tends to loose its grip over the audience. The director Ricky Gervais who has also played the lead role in this movie should have had his thinking cap on for some more time to make this invention more convincing to the viewer. The movie at the outset is definitely a misfit for the present generation and more so ever the plot and the execution looks totally out of place and it looks like the director was in a hurry to complete this script so that he can move forward to his next one. Universal Soldier : Regeneration Movie Review | silentcritics.com

A group of guerrilla fighters from a Russian breakaway republic called Paslan have a master plan in place to get 110 of their comrades released from prison in exchange for the kidnapped Prime minister’s son and daughter. The group has also taken into custody the abandoned Chernobyl nuclear plant and thereby threatening to rig an explosion that would be as deadly as “100 times more powerful than the bombs dropped in Japan” resulting in a radioactive cloud let loose. At this point the story might sound interesting and when the Universal Soldier movie series begun in 1992 with the Roland Emmerich directed original we expect more from it and its lead actor in Jean Claude Van Damme. In the end or rather mid way through the movie we can notice that the director John Hyams (son of noted film maker Peter Hyams) has got his calculations awfully wrong as we get to witness some cheap lop-sided stunts with lots of bloodshed. The Blind Side Movie Review | silentcritics.com

In every individual there is always a hidden side or one could call it hidden talent which would never surface if not nurtured properly or if the environment does not allow it to do so. “The Blind Side” deals with both the above aspects and that too when we come to know that the movie is based on a true life happening it makes us feel really proud of the family who involved themselves in this deed without even having a thought on how the society will react.
